The book is describing very interestingly how the real M&A deals are done in Silicon Valley, how the startups are sold and what you can as a startup owner expect. Some of the chapters are filled with unnecessary descriptions of the actions of various persons, however I was reading the book with great interest and passion. I would recommend it to read for everyone, who would like to know more than just from school books about Venture capital and Private equity world.
Habe das Buch im englishen Original gelesen.Der Autor schreibt viel und sagt wenig. Es geht um seine (Ex-)Frau, Autorennen und lauter Nichtigkeiten, mit denen er die Seiten füllt, bis man als Leser bei ein paar spannenden Meetings und Anekdoten dabei sein darf.Außerdem schreibt der Autor ziemlich ruppig und infantil über bestimmte Vorgänge, zu denen ich mir eine differenzierte Auseinandersetzung eines Insiders gewünscht hätte. Wörter wie "sh*t" und "f*ck" werden sehr häufig genutzt, um die Ansichten des Autors zu untermauern.Vielleicht ist das auch ein Stilmittel, das ich nicht kenne, mein Fall ist dieses Buch nicht, da es eher um ein autobiographisches Schicksal im Silicon Valle geht, als die Mechanismen des Valleys an sich.
Ein paar interessante Aspekte, aber die Substanz reicht meines Erachtens für ein paar Artikel, nicht für ein Buch von 515 Seiten, alles ist sehr langfädig. Und die Zitate am Anfang der Kapitel sollen wahrscheinlich zeigen, auf welch hohem intellektuell-kulturelllen Niveau sich der Autor bewegt.
Der Autor begeistert mit einer authentischen und dennoch sehr leicht lesbaren Schreibe, das Kopfkino bildhaft anzuregen und zudem sehr viel lehhreiche Tipps und Tricks zu vergeben. Die Insights sind zudem schon sehr interessant, hat man so hier und da teils allgemein schonmal gehört, aber nicht so exemplarisch wie im Buch. Insgesamt eine entspannte und zugleich spannende Lektüre auch für Strand und Urlaub.
Erster Teil des Buchs rasant und sehr gut geschrieben. Zum Ende etwas eigenartig - eher wie eine Revanche gegenüber Facebook.An einigen Stellen sehr gut.

It starts of as an interesting insight into the Silicon Valley startup culture but with all the name calling, the reader soon realizes this is just a personal vendetta of somebody who failed as a startup entrepreneur after only 12 months (while also betraying his co-founders) and then shortly thereafter fails as a simple product manager at Facebook. The whole Facebook part is about nothing, the boring job of a mid level product manager, hardly anything to learn and definitely not the least entertaining. What I found outright obscene is where the author tries to show that a salary of $1m per year is at best a mid-level income. As somebody close to the industry I found this book to be a major disappointment. The author is a good writer but he's got no story to tell.
